1. To exalt God above all else (1 Pet. 4:11; Rev. 4:11).
We seek to exalt God in all that we do. He alone is worthy of our praise. Fallen man seeks to worship anything but the creator. Our goal is to direct that worship and honor back to the one who deserves it. In student ministries we exalt God through prayer, praise and the preaching of His Word.
|
3. To proclaim the gospel to the lost (Mt. 28:18-20; 2 Tim. 4:5).
As we exalt God and encourage holiness among His people the inevitable result is that Christians will tell others the good news of Jesus Christ. In student ministries evangelism should be taking place in three ways. First, through the personal evangelism that is the duty of both the pastor and his adult staff. Second, through the personal evangelism of the students whose lives are becoming more like Christ. And third, as God uses the preaching of the Word from the pulpit. While our primary goal in preaching is to edify the saints it is our hope that many who have never really believed will be converted as a result of the faithful preaching of God's Word.

2. To encourage holiness and fellowship among His people (Acts 2:42; Col. 1:28)
By exalting God we hope to see His people grow to become more like Jesus Christ. The body of Christ has the unique role of helping the Christian identify sin and get rid of it. In student ministries many of the students are, for the first time, embracing the faith taught to them by their parents. It then becomes our goal to help them see their sin and turn from it. We also desire to teach them the value of a lifetime of involvement in the body of Christ.
